Gail Greenough
Equestrian Athlete - Inducted 1994
Gail Greenough was named to the Canadian National Equestrian Team in 1983. Among an abundance of career medals and ribbons, she won gold medals at the National Cup, National Horse Show, International Grand Prix, National Grand Prix, and the DuMaurier Grand Prix. She also qualified for three World Cup Finals. In 1986, she displayed her finest showjumping performance when pitted against 72 athletes from 23 countries. She defied all odds by completing each of four finals without knocking down a rail or recording one violation time to win the World Show Jumping Championship.
Gail Greenough's rides have earned her distinctions as the Alberta Female Athlete of the Year. She is the recipient of the Alberta Premiers Award for Performance and the Canadian Equestrian Gold Medal. She is a member of the Canadian Olympic Hall of Fame and a member of the Order of Canada.
