Cameron Henning

Swimming Athlete - Inducted 1994

Cameron Henning was four years old when he began swimming with the Edmonton South Side Swim Club. He then swam with the Edmonton Keyano Swim Club before becoming a member of the Canadian National Swim Team. He competed in 1978 at both the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, and again, in 1982 he won a gold medal for the 200m backstroke and a silver medal for the 100m backstroke. He was ranked fifth and sixth in the World for the 200m backstroke in 1981 and 1982 consecutively. He set a Canadian record for the 200m backstroke at the 1983 Canadian Intercollegiate Athletic Union Championships. Cameron Henning won a bronze medal in the 200m backstroke at the 1984 Olympic Games.
