Jesse Jones
Track & Field Athlete - Inducted 1980
Jesse Jones won the Senior All Round Silver Championship Cup for three consecutive years while in high school. Between the years 1912 and 1928, he won 56 amateur track events, along with 34 field ribbons. Jesse Jones competed in and won seven track and field events in one day. He placed first in the 100, 220, and 440-yard sprints at the 1923 Olympic Trials but was unable to attend the Olympics. Many of his high school records have stood unbroken for as long as 53 years.
