Larry Robinson was born and raised in Calgary. After he completed high school, he played one year of junior football and then signed with the Calgary Stampeder Football Club. From 1961 to 1974, he did not miss playing a game. Larry was a receiver, defensive back, and kicker on the team and he became the first player in the Canadian Football League to score over 1,000 points. One of his most memorable moments happened in Regina when he kicked a crucial field goal, during a blizzard, to secure the Stampeders Western Final win in 1970. He played in the Grey Cup game in 1968, 1970, and then in 1971 where he became a Grey Cup Champion.
Larry was the recipient of many awards and honours during his football career. He was named the Most Outstanding Canadian Rookie in the Western Conference in 1961 and was the Western Division Leading Scorer in 1964 and 1965. He was a nominee for the Schenley Award for Most Outstanding Canadian Player in 1964, 1965, 1969, and 1971, and was runner-up in 1964. He was named the All–Western Defensive Back in 1965, 1971, and 1972.
Larry received the President’s Award in 1972 as the most inspirational player off and on the playing field. He was inducted into the Calgary Stampeder Football Club Wall of Fame in 1986 and the Canadian Football Hall of Fame in 1998.

Larry was born April 18, 1942. He passed away July 18, 2018 at the age of 76.
