Eddie Wares

Hockey Athlete - Inducted 1980

Eddie Wares turned professional in 1935 after playing hockey for several years as an amateur. During his career, he played with the Montreal Maroons, Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Black Hawks, and the Cleveland Barons. He played on two Stanley Cup teams during his career, both with the Detroit Red Wings in 1936 and 1943. In 1950, he switched from playing to coaching the Victoria Cougars and the Nelson Maple Leafs. Eddie Wares served on the Calgary Old Timers Hockey Association executive from 1953 to 1960.
