Harvey Wylie
Football Athlete - Inducted 1980
Harvey Wylie was an exceptional defensive back and kickoff return specialist who spent nine years with the Calgary Stampeders Football Club, ending his playing career with them in 1964. For five consecutive seasons, he was an All-Western All-Star and twice he was an All-Canadian All-Star.
After Induction
Harvey Wylie was added to the Calgary Stampeders Wall of Fame in 1988.
At the time of his death in 2019, he still had three of the six longest kickoff returns in Stampeders history; with a total of five kickoff-return touchdowns during his career – he still had three more than any other Stampeders player. In the Stampeders all-time record books, he is second in career fumble recoveries with 21, and second in interceptions with 35. In 1959, he set a single–season record with 10 interceptions.
