Peter Connellan

Peter Connellan guided the University of Calgary Dinosaurs teams for 13 years. His teams overall regular-season conference record of 70-32-2 gives Peter Connellan an amazing 68 percent winning average, making him one of the most successful coaches in Canadian university football history. He never posted a losing season. During Peter Connellan's tenure with the Dinos, his teams won eight Canada West Conference titles and four Bowl games. They played in five Canadian University Vanier Cup Championships, and won four times. The Vanier Cup Championship in 1995 made him the only coach in Canadian university history to have won four Vanier Cups.
Peter Connellan has been honoured with many individual awards for coaching. He was named Canada West Coach of the Year in 1977 and 1995, 3M Coaching Association of Canada Canadian Male Coach of the Year for 1990, CIAU Coach of the Year in 1977 and 1985, Alberta Amateur Football Norm Kimball Award Coach of the Year in 1984. Peter Connellan also received a number of awards while coaching high school football in Calgary.
After Induction
Peter was inducted into the University of Calgary’s Hall of Fame in 2008. He was inducted once again into the Alberta Sports Hall of Fame & Museum in 2010 with the U of C’s Dinos 1983-1985 Football teams. Peter received the Order of the University of Calgary at the convocation ceremony in June 2012. Peter was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame on November 2, 2012.
