M. E. “Mike” Eurchuk

Mike Eurchuk started coaching in 1964 and has since taken Alberta wrestlers to National and World Championships. In 1967, he began officiating. He has been involved in 44 National level tournaments and 27 International tournaments. The latter number involved 1500 individual matches during Olympic Games, World Cups, and World Championships. Mike Eurchuk was named Canada's 1979 Amateur Sport Official of the Year.
After Induction
Mike was the founding chairman of women’s wrestling in Canada. Along with others, he brought the World Cup of Wrestling to Edmonton in 1994 – this was the first time the event was held in this country. In 2000 he was president of the Edmonton Amateur Wrestling Association and is a past-president of the Edmonton Huskies Football Club.
Mr. Eurchuk was inducted into the Canadian Amateur Wrestling Association (CAWA) Hall of Fame in 1996 and Edmonton’s Sports Hall of Fame in 2003.
