George Gemer
Track & Field Builder - Inducted 1994
George Gemer has been a key figure in the development and operation of several provincial and national track and field organizations, including the Alberta Track and Field Association and the International Track and Field Coaches Association. His commitment is evidenced in his tireless work as a coach and as a meet director. Specializing in throwing events, he has paced many fields with Canada's National and Junior National teams at the Pan American Games; Commonwealth Games; and, several European tours. He has conducted coaching clinics and training camps across North America and was instrumental in developing Athletics Alberta's Coaching Education Program. He formed the Lethbridge Track and Field Club in 1958 and coached its members until 1974. George Gemer also created the Southwind Atleticka Track and Field Club.
