Lawrence Grassi

Mountaineering Builder - Inducted 1980

Lawrence Grassi devoted all of his time to the development of trails and campsites after retiring at age 56.  One of his trails through the Whiteman Pass resulted in the Twin Lakes being renamed the Grassi Lakes in his honour.  He also cleared the Canadian Youth Hostel Association Trail from Bragg Creek to Banff.  At Lake O'Hara, where Lawrence Grassi was an assistant warden, the Alpine Club of Canada erected a plaque as a tribute to his work.
