Stan Siwik

Swimming Builder - Inducted 1982

Stan Siwik competed at the 1936 Olympics for his native Poland. He became involved with the YMCA after he moved to Lethbridge in 1948 where he helped to rebuild their aquatic program. In 1950 he formed, administrated, and trained the Lethbridge Amateur Swimming Club. A number of his swimmers have held Provincial, Western Canadian, and Canadian records and titles. In 1953, Stan Siwick became President of the Southern Alberta Swimming Association. He served as the first Chairman of the Rules and Regulations Committee in 1956. In 1963, he was President of the Canadian Amateur Swimming Association. Stan Siwick has been an internationally accredited official at the Pan American and Olympic Games since 1967.
