William Donald “Don”’ Smith

William "Don" Smith has been active as a coach and administrator in aquatics since 1949. He was an executive member of the South Side Club from 1958 to 1970 and was the Head Coach for the last four years. He has been a member of the Red Cross Society since 1948 and was its chairman from 1961 to 1968. He was the National Chairman of the Water Safety Advisory Committee for the Canadian Red Cross Society from 1971 to 1975. "Don" Smith was President of the Northern Alberta Canadian Amateur Swimming Championship in 1966. He was Chairman of the National Swim team from 1967 to 1970. In 1968, Don Smith was Manager of the Canadian Olympic Swimming and Diving team in Mexico City.
