Henry Viney

Multisport Builder - Inducted 1983

Henry Viney participated in most sports during his youth. He took up coaching and officiating, particularly in basketball, while in his twenties. He became a noted referee and handled all major competitions of the famous Edmonton Grads Basketball Team. He was also actively involved with hockey and baseball. He chose broadcasting as a profession, but he never lost sight of the need to promote amateur sports. Henry Viney became one of the premier boosters of amateur sport at local, national, and international levels. An arena in Calgary bears his name in recognition of his devotion to both amateur and professional sports.
