Don’s coaching career started with school sport in 1966 working with basketball, swimming, hockey. After his kids entered competitive swimming Don volunteered as an administrator, a leader, and a builder at every level supporting and enabling Canada’s youth to excel in sport at the local, provincial, national and international level. His involvement with the first National Swimming training Centre at the University of Calgary, put Alberta on the cutting edge of athletic and coach support. He has been recognized for his leadership by being appointed to two Canadian Olympic Teams by Swimming Canada and as a Team manager and leader from Swim Alberta as part of the Gangwon/Alberta cultural exchange program. Don is truly on of the great leaders in Alberta and Canada, his work with the National Sport Center, CODA and Swim Alberta will have a lasting effect on the province and the country for years to come.
