George Kingston

Hockey Player, University Coach, Professor, Assistant and head and head Coach for a national Team, the NHL and in Europe, George Kingston has done it all. His coaching career started at the University of Calgary where he succeeded in bringing home 5 Western University Championships during 16 seasons. Not only did he coach the Canadian Men’s Team to a gold medal in the 1988 Spengler Cup, he also was the head coach of Team Canada in the 1996 IIHF World Hockey Championships in Italy winning Canada’s first gold medal in 33 years. He has volunteered with Hockey Canada programming including roles with the 80,84,88 and 94 Olympics. At Lillehammer Norway he was General Manager and Mentor coach for the Canadian Olympic Team where they won silver. Internationally he has helped develop and improve programs in Norway, Germany, Mexico, Lithuania and Austria. In honor of his dedication, hard work and contributions to the world of Hockey, he has received multiple awards from CIAU Coach of the Year, to The Order of Hockey in Canada and is Honored Member at the Alberta Hockey Hall of fame 2016.
