Nancy Brawley
Diving Athlete — Inducted 1985
Nancy Robertson Brawley was one of Canada’s leading divers during the late 1960s and early 1970s, representing the country internationally in both platform and springboard events.
She became a member of Canada’s National Diving Team in 1967 and quickly established herself as a consistent medal contender at major international competitions. Over a five-year period, Brawley earned three gold, three silver, and two bronze medals in international competition, demonstrating versatility and excellence across multiple diving disciplines.
Brawley represented Canada at two Olympic Games, competing at the 1968 Summer Olympic Games in Mexico City and again at the 1972 Summer Olympic Games in Munich.
Her international success also included a silver medal performance at the 1970 Commonwealth Games. In 1971, during her second appearance at the Pan American Games, she captured the gold medal in platform diving, further cementing her reputation as one of Canada’s premier divers of her era.
After Induction
Following her competitive career, Nancy Brawley remained actively involved in Canadian sport through athlete development and leadership roles.
In 2020, she served as Team Manager for the Canadian Diving Team at the Tokyo Olympic Games, continuing her long-standing commitment to supporting Canadian athletes on the international stage.
