Pat Bawtinheimer started shooting at the Red Deer Trap and Skeet Club and competed in both American and International Style trapshooting. His dominance in multi-discipline (singles, doubles, handicap) and multi-style trapshooting has never been duplicated. Between the ages of 12-17, he won 130 American Style shooting events in Western Canada - 15 Provincial Junior titles, five Canadian Junior titles, two North American Junior titles, and was selected to the All-American Junior team in 1977 and 1978.  He received three Alberta Achievement Awards and held two Alberta records (high singles 198/200 and four-time Jr. Champion). At the age of 21, Pat Bawtinheimer changed to International Style trapshooting and won gold at Canadian Junior in 1982, British Grand Prix Junior in 1983, Western Zone International Team in 1983, Canadian Men in 1984, Canada/USA Eastern Zone Championship in 1985 and Benito Juarez Games Mexico in 1985. He was part of Team Canada at the World Championships in 1982 and 1983, and the Los Angeles Olympics in 1984. As an athlete who excelled in his sport at an early age, he continues to give back to sports as a coach and mentor.
