Ray Kingsmith joined the Glencoe Curling Club in 1946 where he played for two years. He then moved over to the Calgary Curling Club which has since honoured him as a life member. He served on the executive of the club for 13 years and was the president for one term. Ray Kingsmith joined the Southern Alberta Curling Association Executive in 1955, was President in 1966/67 and made a life-time member in 1968. He was elected to the Alberta Men's Curling Council in 1966 and served until 1980. He was appointed as an executive to the Canadian Curling Association in 1971.

  • 1986 – Elected to the Canadian Curling Association Hall of Fame (past president)

  • 1986 – Made a member of the Governor General’s Curling Club

  • 1988 – Curling Chairman of the XV Olympic Winter Games - Calgary

  • 1994 – Canadian Curling Association Hall of Fame (Builder)

  • 2011 – World Curling Freytag Award - posthumously

  • 2012 – World Curling Hall of Fame

Since his passing Raymond Kingsmith has been memorialized by his friends and family to honour his dedication and commitment to the sport of curling:

June (every year) – Ray Kingsmith Memorial Golf Tournament – raises money to support the Ray Kingsmith High School Bonspiel which runs between Christmas and New Years every year.

Labatt’s Blue Autumn Gold honours Ray every year with a memorial award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to women’s curling.

1991 – Canadian Curling Association initiated the Ray Kingsmith/Canadian Airlines International Executive of the Year Award – presented annually to an individual who best exemplifies the ideals of Ray that made him the consummate sport executive he was.

The Kingsmith International Junior Curling Event is held annually at the Glencoe Club in Calgary.
