Channarong Ratanaseangsuang has spent his life playing and coaching badminton. After moving to Canada in 1966, he played on three Canadian Thomas Cup Teams and won eight National Open Championships. Channarong Ratanaseangsuang won the 1985 World Seniors Championship in doubles. As a coach and player mentor, he has had players compete in three World Championships, three Commonwealth Games, two Uber Cups, and three Thomas Cups. He was the Canadian National Coach from 1967 to 1973. In recognition, he has received Alberta Achievement Awards in 1975 and 1976 and has been inducted into Sports Halls of Fame in the United States, Sweden, and Thailand. He was also a recipient of the Vanier Award in 1978 as an Outstanding Young Canadian.
